Radical Rainbows~Wow!
We're expecting rain every day this week. Already from July 8-August 12, the Corrales/Rio Rancho area has received at least 9.5" of rain. Typically this area only receives between 1-4" during the entire summer monsoon season.
We received some rainfall last night followed by one of the most amazing rainbows we have ever seen in our lives. All we could do was stand there with our mouths ooohing and aaahing over the spectacle that covered a huge, complete arc across the sky over our house. The rainbow started at the side of our house and carried over to the other side of Sandia Mountain, which made it too difficult to get the entire rainbow in the photo.
The sun was setting, as well, which gave the sky a reddish, muddy tone, which is why the photo has such an odd color. In actuality, we could still make out the bright colors of the rainbows, and the vividedness of this unique double rainbow.
