Tea Party

Our Homeschool Co-op planned a delightful afternoon sipping tea and visiting. We were originally excited to attend, but things didn't turn out as planned....but better.

I am amazed at what wonderful thoughtful and caring friends I have. On the day of this tea party, I had accepted the fact that we could'nt attend, because John had to work and boys were not particularly allowed at the 'all-girls tea party'. I also did not have the money to provide a dish to share at this time, so I planned on moping in my jammies all day and reading with my kids. Our computer had crashed the night before because of Daylight Savings, so I had no computer access and no phone access.....so I was in a sorry state.

John knew how bummed I was feeling, so when he noticed e-mails from my friends Karen and then Jenifer asking me to please come to the tea party and bring my sons, too...and not to worry about not having anything to bring.....John e-mailed them back and called them from work and set the 'balls in motion'.

Before I knew what was going on, I received a knock on my door. And when I saw it was my friend Jenifer standing on my doorstep, I was floored! First I was confused and wondered if the tea party was changed to my house! And then I briefly considered acting like I wasn't home and not answering the door!! hehehe
But I'm so glad I did.....even if I was standing there in my flannel jammies!

Jenifer encouraged me to get out of my slump and get dressed. She wanted to drive us to her house. She finally talked me into it, along with the urgings of my sons and daughter, too. But in the end I decided to drive my own van and just follow her instead, so I wouldn't inconvenience her.....Hey! She did drive all the way from the SW Mesa in Albuquerque to my home in the far NW Mesa in Rio Rancho! I didn't want her to have to drive me all the way back home again afterwards. hehe

We had such a wonderful time visiting with friends, laughing, chatting, playing and munching yummy food, too. I'm so glad we have such special friends that care about us and want us around.

Jenifer's beautiful daughters in her 'tea pot' kitchen. These are only a FEW of her collection!
Jenifer's son, Matthew was enamored with Jenna and they both enjoyed playing together.

Karen baking scones...some of the best I've ever had....and I've eaten scones in London!
Karen was so sweet to remember to make 'clodded cream' to go with our scones
We also decorated pretty hats for our tea party
Jenna and I made the caterpillar hat on the left. Jenifer liked it so much that she made the other one on the right.
While we ladies sipped tea and chatted, the guys (and some of the little ladies) played upstairs with video games and other toys, too.
