Icicle Sculptures

I am drawn to the beauty of icicles. Maybe it's the way they glisten and sparkle like gems? Maybe it's the way they are so much like stalactites in a cave? The way they are able to do in one day, what a cave stalactite takes decades to do. The striking sculptural quality caused simply by frozen water melting. Truly amazing.
I'm so pleased that I took the following pictures this morning, because a few hours later, all of my subjects had melted completely away.

This gorgeous ice sculpture inthe fore front was over 3 feet long! The rows of ice behind it reminded me of shark teeth. Very sharp and pointed.
Notice the one drop of water falling at the exact moment I took this photo. Cool!
I love the way the shadows of the ice look so gnarled, sharp and twisted, too. Dragon teeth? Shark teeth? Wild animal claws? Witch's fingernails?

  1. Hi Lisa love the icicles! In Reno we used to get some huge icicles. I loved watching them. We finally celebrated Christmas tonight with my mom. Since we were all sick over Christmas Drew and I stayed home in bed till we were well.

  2. Hi Cher,

Yes! I love the icicles, too! Nice to know there are
    other admirers.

SO wonderful to hear from you again and thanks for
posting to my Blog. It's great to know that others
enjoy sharing the stuff we are doing, too.

Sounds fun that you extended Christmas into New Years.
Too bad it was because you were sick, though. But I
hope you all had a happy and healthy New Years and
    delayed Christmas.

    Take care,
    Lisa
