Triplet Piggies

Here are the trio, just a day old. We haven't completely decided on names yet.
But we know that 2 seem to be boys (boars) and 1 seems to be female (sow). Of course, it has been known that the evil piggy fairy sometimes comes to call and changes things like that. So, we'll keep checking over the next 2 weeks to be sure. hehe

We have decided to name the mostly black piggy, Licorice. And the black-faced piggy is Jelly Bean. The piggy with the blaze on it's face may be named either Truffle or Eclair. For now we are just enjoying them and their popcorning, playing and wheeking.

  1. Hi Lisa,

Andy & Dan want to get a pair of guinea pigs. I prefer not to buy them at a pet store, as my experience is that pets sold in stores are sickly and usually come from a breeding 'mill' of one kind or another. Is there any kind of piggie rescue or somewhere 'better' to get them than a pet store?

  2. First read this site for more info on Cavy care, cages, etc. Some people keep cavies in fish tanks which is very bad for them (not enough room, respiratory problems). Ours are in 4x6 C&C cages.

Then visit this website of a Cavy rescue in Rio Rancho, where we adopted our first 3 guinea pigs. Steve and his family are amazing people and are caring for up to 40 piggies, all rescued or given up by owners.
He will not adopt out cavies to children, unless an adult is the primary caregiver.
