John had flown in kind of last minute to the Tucson airport so he could drive back home with us and spend some time with his family. So after we picked him up we decided to do some 'boxing together.
First we stopped off at Iron Horse Historic Park and walked to the famous Diamondback Rattlesnake bridge. We loved it! We were impressed with the ingenuity and creativity in making what normally would be boring and utilitarian, a walking/bike bridge, into something not only useful but something playful and fun for locals as well as a unique tourist destination.
Known locally as “Snake Bridge,” the Diamondback Bicycle/Pedestrian Bridge provides safe access from the eastside of Tucson to downtown. Built in the shape of a Diamondback Rattlesnake, the bridge has become a landmark in Downtown Tucson.
We discovered 3 hidden letterboxes in this area, with beautiful and special hand-carved stamps inside.
