Ok, so today it was our first time to feed the snake all on our own. I was terribly nervous that I'd do something wrong, or that I hadn't been paying attention when Ingo was showing us how to feed his Snake.
And then I couldn't find the timer Ingo had used to be sure of the amount of time to defrost the frozen mouse. Then I felt stupid when I realized that a regular old clock could be used with the kids letting me know when the time was up.
Picking up Mr. Snake from his aquarium was a little unnerving, which confused me, because I'm not usually afraid of snakes. But I was really nervous when the snake was coiled up in a sort of striking position, so I backed out and let Jackson pick up Mr Snake and bring him to the 'feeding box', where the thawed mouse was waiting for him.
The mouse warming up.....
Jax bringing Mr. Snake to the 'feeding box'.
Mr.Snake checking out the 'feeding box' looking for "Mr Mouse".....
For some odd reason, Mr Snake insisted on swallowing the mouse butt first. It would seem that swallowing the head first would have been easier, as I watched the mouse's little feet and back legs flapping out on either of the snake's jaws while he tried to swallow the butt first.
But what do I know, "I'm not a snake".
It's amazing how fast the mouse slips into the snake's jaws once it gets the first section down.
Very close to being done with swallowing such a large meal.
Down the Hatch! You can see the mouse sliding down the neck and body at this point.
