I haven't been able to keep up with our Blog now that we are back home from Arizona, because our computer is still on the fritz. My only computer access is through the local libraries. And by the look of things lately, in regards to the lack of availability of computers and the long waiting lines, it would seem that we are not the only family without the use of a fickle computer. Sigh.
Anyway, we've been catching up and taking some rest time since our 2 week Arizona trip, but we've been doing some fun things, too, along the way.
This week we met with some of the families in our Homeschool Co-op Organic Gardening project at Los Poblanos. We worked together, children and adults, weeding, hoeing, preparing the soil, and finally planting the seeds. So, far, we have planted tomato plants with cages, green, orange and red peppers, turnips, flowers, cucumbers and carrots. We still have about half a row left to plant, which will probably be with some of the thinned out seedlings, as well as some garlic, snap peas and possibly beans.
But at least we've got something in the ground! The weather here has been so odd, teasing us with Spring, but still cold and windy much of the time. It seems we are having a late Spring, but I think we are past the frost period, so hopefully in the next 2 weeks we will be seeing little green seedlings peeking their cheerful leaves above the ground!
While preparing the soil, the kids discovered several toads hopping over our garden row. We are happy to see them here and encourage them to stay and eat any greedy insects that try to munch our baby sprouts.
