On Friday night we attended our Homeschool Co-op's second annual "Celebration of Success" Gathering, a social event to acknowledge and celebrate our children's accomplishments throughout the previous year. These accomplishments can be anything a child and his/her family is proud of. And not always educationally related either.
Some ideas: being kind and helpful to siblings, volunteering for an organization, overcoming any fears, learning new skills, and so on. And of course, educational accomplishments are accoladed as well.
The best part of all was listening to the joyful pride in parent's voices, while watching the deep and abiding love for their children shared with and in front of supportive friends and family.
It was truly a heartfelt and emotional experience, filled with special moments to hold within our hearts and memories.
Below are some pics I took, along with a few taken by our friend, Tory. Carissa also took some beautiful pics, too. You can see them in her Flikr Photo if you click here:

John and I stood up with Jackson, Jeremiah and Jenna, to share some funny and heartwarming moments with everyone.
We presented Jeremiah with 3 awards for Creative Writing, Reading and Completion of 4th grade!! We are so proud of you and your love of the written word!
Jenna was given an award for her joy of learning and bringing so much happiness to our family. We love you, Jen Jen!!
After sharing Jackson's recent interest in (and the subsequent electrical faux pas!) in electrical engineering, we awarded him with a special Science Award. Of course, Jackson's science skills go way beyond the zapping in our kitchen. He amazes us every day with his ability to quickly realize how something works and how to fix it. As well his building and construction sense is also impressive. Way to go Jackson!
Jackson was quite proud of his award and for his parents recognizing him on this special day!
Laura celebrating her sons', Campbell and Quinn's accomplishments.
Michelle congratulating her children on their new skills in 2006-07.
Carissa's parents, Johnny's Grandparents stood up to lovingly show support for their grandson and their daughter and son-in-law. They also shared and showed support for our entire homeschool co-op's families for our love and committment we give to our children in our homeschooling efforts. We are truly blessed to have them so involved in our homeschool co-op!
Rollin, Monica and Ian are in the process of adopting these two younger foster children, Sean and Adriana. They are such a beautiful family and we all wished them worlds of happiness.
Rob, our Aussie Dad, got everyone cracking up when he set patriotic hats on Skye and Dane's heads, in place of grad hats! He shared the love and pride he has for his children and his love and awe he has for his wife, Sharon, in all that she does as a Mom and homeschool 'teacher'. Brought tears to many of our eyes.
Carissa's husband giving kudos to his son, Johhny.
Tory's hubby celebrating his two daughters' new skills.
Laura's pet turkey.

Even Laura's chickens were celebrating (that their tail feathers finally grew in! hehe)They also were enjoying some leftover watermelon from our BBQ, too!

I have no idea what they were talking about. I just happened to walk by and snapped this photo when I saw how deeply they were in conversation.
It greatly touches my heart to see how my dear friends relate to and respect our children. I'm honored and amazed to call these people my friends. Laura is one of our special friends, one whom my kids fondly call their 'second mom'. They also feel so welcomed and cared for when we visit, that they refer to Laura and Ken's house as their 'second home'. We are truly blessed.Jackson, Jeremiah and Jenna proudly showing off their Celebration of Success Certificates!!
