Well, only 3 days in AZ and we adopt a kitten! Even more ironic because of our friends' 2 cats that went missing before we arrived. We are nuts, I know, but this kitten needed a loving home and the hands of fate placed her gently in our laps.
She is a 3 month old Manx kitten, a cat with only a nub for a tail. We decided to name her "Javelina Rose" because, 1)Javelina's have no tails, 2)She was born in Arizona, where Javelinas are quite common (We've even seem them here!).
As for Rose, Jackson thought it was pretty and went well as a middle name.
According to all the sources, Manx cats can take up to 3 years to be fully grown, so even at 3 months she is quite tiny.
Javelina Rose is a bit frightened of the 3 dogs and 1 older cat that live here, and she is a bit shy. But today some of her kitten personality came out just a little.
I peeked into the bathroom to check on Jenna and here is what I saw! Jenna was quite pleased to have a kitty visitor. Javelina is very gentle and sweet, just like Jenna.
How-D to The Westfall Family,
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting me in The Old Pueblo and a special thanks for all of your kind, flattering words.
After years of John talking about his wonderful family and sending photos, it was fantastic to meet Lisa, Jeremiah, Jackson and Jenna live and in person.
From your blog, Lisa, it appears as though your visit to Arizona was a great success. We hope you'll be back again.
Continued safe travels, with
Love from,
Mickey-Miles Felton
Cute little bob-tailed manx kitty! I had two manxes (now down to one.. she's 12+ years now : ( ) And my grandma has one, too! My gray manx who has passed away had a tail just like your Javelina-Rose.
ReplyDeleteI came here while Googling for images of javelinas. I had never heard of them before she had mentioned them today!
ReplyDeleteYour Javelina Rose is absolutely darling, by the way. She's probably a full grown cat by now and looks even saucier than she does in that first photo!
