Party with Pals~70 years old!!

Last night we attended our good friend Karen's Father's 70th Birthday Fiesta! What a great time!
There was a huge pig roast with lots of yummy tasty food, like handmade tortillas and salsa/guacamole, Mexican rice, salads, fruit, and sauces!

For the first hour or so, we enjoyed a festive Mariachi band, followed by beautiful Andean music played by Karen's brother. There was lots of laughter and conversations and the kids had tons of fun things to do in Karen's kid-friendly back yard.

Meeting Karen's wonderfully joyful parents, and brothers and sisters, who are from South Dakota was a great experience, too. We also enjoyed catching up with some of our homeschool-co-op friends.

Thanks Karen and Family for a fabulous evening...and Happy 70th Birthday, Dad!!

The band along with more of Karen's family.
John and our friends Carissa and her hubby, Tom, enjoying some silly moments together! hehe
Our friend, Jennifer and her hubby Justin, and their kids are lots of fun. Their youngest seems to have had a little too much to drink! heheh
Some of the kids playing in the backyard.
Jackson, in the chicken coop, holding one of the chickens.
Jackson loves the chickens!
Jeremiah's come a long way in moving past his fears of animals. He actually scooped this chicken up all by himself! Yay!
This awesome chicken castle was hand built by Karen's 70 year old Dad! He did an excellent job.
Karen's brother is a professional musician who plays Andean Wind Music. He has produced several 'albums' and his music is very beautiful and a joy to listen to.
He played several songs last night on different Wind Instruments, including a Quena,
Zampoña and a Tarka.
This is the Zampoña, which plays lilting and haunting sounds through the various 'pipes'.
Jackson was very impressed with all the wind instruments, but especially the Zampoña, which Karen's brother generously showed Jackson how to play.
Fun-loving Dannie and Stirling, her hubby. She made the lucious chocolate cake for Karen's Dad's birthday party!
Carissa's hubby, Tom goofing off with the "Space Colander Helmet". hehe
Carissa scheming a special birthday presentation for Karen's Dad, with all the kids.
Karen's fun Dad, posing with the Colander 'hat'. He is so funny and nice. I'm so happy we had the opportunity to finally meet him and his wonderful wife. They are warm, kind, and fun folks.
Our friend, Monica, Karen's Mom and Karen, too.
Al, Karen's hubby and Rollin, Monica's hubby just hanging out together.
