Pond Efforts

We decided to move forward with our idea to rescue the 6 koi fish from the rusty stock tank behind our barn.
First I opened up the valve to slowly empty the old stock tank. Meanwhile I started trying to dig the hole, in the place I had wanted to originally have it, but within 5" I hit solid rock, so I gave up that location. But after trying our several other places and hitting solid rock, I got a little frustrated.
John and I worked together on the side yard, though, and we discovered an area with rich, dark, moist soil...easy to dig through.
After 2 days of digging out earth, John and I taking turns, we finally had the hole dug about 3' deep and placed the pre-formed pond inside.

Jenna helping out by watering the grass.
Then we went up to the barely wet stock tank, scooped out the fish with a net and placed them in plastic bags. After about 20 mins of getting them used to the new water temperature and environment, we finally released them into their new watery home.
I then added some large rocks and small boulders for a more natural look and a place to perch on to enjoy the fish.
It's been several days since we completed the job and the fish seem very happy.
We plan on adding a water fountain in a few days so we can enjoy the sound of water, too.
