Gone to the Birds

We are enjoying feeding and watching all of the different varieties of birds coming to visit our bird feeders. My favorite Bird Identification book is "Birds of North America". A dear friend gave me this book about 12 years ago after our first visit to Bosque Del Apache Wildlife Refuge, near Socorro, NM. I refer to this book all the time when trying to identify birds that we come upon. I also enjoy this website as well:

New Mexico Birding

Besides the typical small birds visiting our feeders and fish pond for a drink, we also see pretty doves, quick roadrunners, pinon jays and noisy western scrub jays, too.

Here's our birds feeders. I'll be refilling the suet containers tomorrow and I'm looking forward to seeing which birds will be drawn to this new food source.(Click to see a larger view and see which birds are feeding)

A beautiful Pinon Jay.
A Western Scrub Jay on the stucco wall.We get these in huge flocks, too.
