We've got Snow!

We weren't expecting to get any snow until Friday, but the cold blast of winter moved in to our area sometime last night. We woke up to freezing temps and our pond covered in a thick layer of ice.
The snow started falling as granules, sort of like that Dip-N-Dot ice cream, as soon as we sat down to eat our Thanksgiving dinner.

And the snow is still falling as I publish this Blog entry!

John and I were watching the news and felt grateful that he was able to come home from work before 7pm, because the state closed I-40 due to the snow and several auto accidents. I'm thankful that he is ok and that we were able to celebrate Thanksgiving together as a family, too.

And here a few photos of snow around our house tonight.

When the snow first started falling it was very granule-like. And it stuck to everything. Here is our koi pond.
About an hour later, the snow flurries began. So far I'm very glad that I placed the metal grid on top of the pond and left the pump running. The ice is not 'sticking' to the water at all. And the water doesn't seem to be as cold with the 'snow guard' on top.
A view towards our backyard and patio.
A flower pot and snowy decoration in our front yard beside the garage.
I've heard of 'frost on the pumpkin', but this is ridiculous! hehe
We never did get around to carving our pumpkins. I think we are going to carve Christmas pumpkins instead!
