On December 5th, Tim Tebow (University of Florida) became the 1st Homeschool graduate to ever be nominated for the Heisman Trophy. Tonight he became the 1st Homeschool graduate to ever win the award. Tebow's first words at the podium were these: "I'd just like to first start off by thanking my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who gave me the ability to play football." Since 1935, every Heisman winner has been wither a junior or a senior until Tebow. Only a sophomore, Tebow rushed for more touchdowns than anyone in SEC history and became the first major collegiate player in history to rush for 20 touchdowns and throw for 20 TD passes in the same season. He finished the year with a school record 3,970 total yards and tallied 51 total touchdowns.
