I was recently turned on, by a fellow homeschooling friend, to a Christian and writer, Max Lucado. We didn't choose to homeschool for religious reasons, but our family does believe in God and we do choose to be Christians. It's refreshing to come upon other Christian Homeschoolers and it's enjoyable to read their thoughts, visions, beliefs and their own way of life.

Here is the e-mail sent to me by a fellow unschooler:
From Max Lucado's new book, Cure for the Common Life.
"Don't see your child as a blank slate awaiting your pen, but as a written book awaiting your study."
"The greatest gift you can give your children is not your riches, but revealing to them their own."
I love that! He sounds very unschooly. His writings are so full of beautiful explanations of God's mercy and love, and I was just thrilled to find out he felt this way about children.
I think the first quote is especially powerful and very counter to what some Christians believe. God must get angry when He sees us messing with His little creations.
I really believe we as parents are here as their protectors, our job is to show them who God is. Huge responsibility.
