Keeping it Local

To save gas and time, but mostly just because we just love living here in the mountains and don't want to leave it for the traffic and chaos of the city, we are trying to do as much as we can locally, within a 1-10 mile distance.

Jeremiah attends his Guitar Lessons once a week about 8 miles away from our house, in Cedar Crest, below the Eastern side of the tree-covered Sandia Mountains.
While he is doing his thing, Jackson, Jenna and I either play at a nearby church with a cool outdoor playground, or we walk over to Wooby's Coffee House for some goodies.

Alot of East Mountain Homeschoolers take guitar lessons here, too.Starbucks has nothing on Wooby's! We would have sat inside on the comfy cozy chairs, but the views of snow-covered mountains and trees were just too spectacular to not sit ouside and enjoy. Jackson and Jenna enjoyed their whipped cream topped hot cocoas and some yummy gingerbread cookies. Silly gal of mine. heheThis sign made us laugh and appreciate how casual and low-key mountain living is. Notice that there are no exact closure times: the sliver of moon might mean "sometime after the moon rises". And on Sundays, the restaurant closes: 'when the cows come home"!!! hehee
