Letterboxing Friends~Ranch Visit

A few days ago we had the honor of entertaining some friends of ours we have gotten to know through Letterboxing, Astro D and Lions Mane. Of course those aren't their real names, but when you letterbox you choose a Trail Name and create a Personal Stamp related to that name. So it all ties together and it's lots of fun.

Ranchman John was excited to have Lions Mane and Astro D over for a visit and dinner. He had too much fun being silly, saying "The cartoon characters are coming!" Well, the name has been changed slightly, but actually Astro is a real cartoon character.

So anyway, our friends wanted to drive into the Sandia Mountains to find some letterboxes we recently placed, and we were all too happy to invite them to stop in for a visit after their busy day searching for boxes.

I even baked a double layer "Death By Chocolate" cake. After eating it you feel like you're in a chocolate coma.
Before dinner we took them out to visit with the chickens and woolies. Cataleya, always the curious PR Llama showed extreme interest in Lions Mane. And I can tell you that there is just about nothing softer than llama lips on your skin. When a llam kisses you, you should feel special.
Baby Doll was happy to have visitors, too. Especially since they usually come bearing treats. Baby Doll is always very light and gentle when taking treats from hands.
Astro D made an instant connection with Jones, the barn cat. She is moving to a new house soon, but really wants to adopt a striped cat once they get settled. I made sure she knew that Jones is available for adoption. When winter comes my wish for Jones is that he has a safe, warm cozy home to live in with a lap to cuddle up in. He truly is an indoor, lap-cat at heart, and we would love it if Astro D decides to share their home with Mr Jones.(Are you reading this Diane? hint hint)
After Critter Visiting, we sat down to dinner and dessert and lots of wonderful conversation. We love to have friends and family over to visit and look forward to spending time with our Santa Fe friends, Lions Mane and Astro D again, soon. You can read more about their visit on Lions Mane Blog and also see some really great pictures.(Christy, he took some cute pictures of our two sheep, too. I remember you wanting to see some recent photos of them, so try to check them out)

  2. I am trying to get my friend Sibel to take Mr. Jones - she wants a cat too - she took a look at him on Mark's blog. He looks just like her last cat though and that's kinda weird! I gotta get through a move and some remodelling before I can even think about cats though. Thanks for the fun visit and we hope you can make it up here soon!
