This month a group of us homeschool co-op members started working on an Organic Community Garden Project at Los Poblanos Fields in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque. For more on Los Poblanos, click HERE.
During our first meeting we spread the compost into our garden row. During our meeting today, we all dug a trench to help aid in the irrigation of our plants. Our next meeting will involve planting our veggies!
Here's some pics of us hard at work.
Jenna insisted on getting right in there and digging a trench, but the shovel was a little too heavy for her. She still made quite a huge effort, though. That's her in the pink in the top photo. The bottom photo's 'girl-in-pink' is another co-op friend named Skye. Some of the other kids are out playing beside the acequia bridge.
Jax and Jem worked hard digging the irrigation trench, too. And they especially enjoyed working alongside the adults and are excited about growing their own fresh food. (Jax is wearing a blue shirt and Jem is wearing the red shirt)
