This bird woke me up over the weekend. The beautiful Red-shafted Flicker is a jay sized woodpecker and was practicing his pecking on the metal exhaust pipe on our roof. Sounded like a jack hammer was trying to beat a hole in our roof! (Click photo for a larger version of this photo)

This bird woke me up over the weekend. The beautiful Red-shafted Flicker is a jay sized woodpecker and was practicing his pecking on the metal exhaust pipe on our roof. Sounded like a jack hammer was trying to beat a hole in our roof! (Click photo for a larger version of this photo)
