SNOW!!!!

On Thanksgiving, no less! Woot, Woot!I'm not a huge fan of snow, except when my family can be home together and especially for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Last year we had snow for Christmas and Thanksgiving, and we were thrilled! So far, this year seems to be a repeat, which is great, because the house is cozy and warm and filled with the comforting aromas of food roasting and baking.
The horse, llamas, goats and sheep are all tucked into the barn nice and dry, and except for a few bedraggled stubborn chickens, the chickens are cuddled up inside their house, too. Mrs. Cotton, our Japanese Silky hen, looks a little worse for wear, doesn't she? These are the smart ones.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

John had to work most of the day, but was home by 6:30pm, so we had a late Thanksgiving dinner together. We have so many things to be thankful for. One of our family traditions is to pass around the "Thankful Fork". Whomever is holding the fork gets full attention to share with everyone what they are thankful for.
Jeremiah said he was thankful for so many things, some of which, touched both John's and my heart. Jackson and John were also thankful for some very meaningful things, too. I was thankful for many things, but especially that we can now afford to feed our family and enjoy a bountiful dinner without having to accept hand-outs from a food pantry or our church. It's such a blessing to be able to open our pantry and find it full of healthy food.
But Jenna made us all laugh by being thankful for teddy bears (she doesn't even like teddy bears! hehe)

Anyway, we enjoyed a very nice dinner together. And the moment we sat down to eat, snow started falling.

Turkey Time

Our friends, who invited us to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner with their family, have a turkey fryer and it makes the best, most juciest, flavorful turkey. Dale generously agreed to fry up our Christmas turkey on Saturday and it is SO yummy!
Jenna didn't know quite what to think of the whole turkey sitting there.
"Hey! What's in there?!"

Deep Fried Turkeys

We were invited to share Thanksgiving with friends, Dale & Shari and their family. Dale deep-fried the turkeys with peanut oil and they came out crispy on the outside with tasty, juicy meat inside. Good-bye to cooking dried-up tough turkeys in the oven. With a deep-fyer, oil and a simple, no-mess 45 minutes, a turkey comes out better than perfect! Yummy!
Shari and her sister also made some yummy homemade dishes and we all gathered to enjoy and fellowship together. Jackson & Jeremiah played basketball and dodge-ball trampoline with Dale & Shari's boys. And Jenna enjoyed playing with sweet-natured 7 year old Noah and they were so cute together!
