Chilly Birds

We received a few snow showers throughout the night. The birds always seem eager and very grateful to have a full birdfeeder whenever we get snow or cold weather. We all enjoy watching them. Here are a couple photos(Click photo to make it larger):

Feline Photography

Is there anything more calming that watching a cat sleep in the sun? (Our 10 month old Manx kitty in my daughter's window asleep). It's amazing how far she can stretch out, too. (Click for larger view)
Oreo's beautiful tuxedo kitty face.
He has the cutest 'freckle'/'birthmark' on his chin.

Birding Photography

One of my favorite past times is watching birds and trying to figure out which species they are. And of course, a bird feeder is a great place to bring the birds close enough to enjoy.

These photos were all taken from our master bathroom window. (Click for larger view)

Large flocks of marauding Pinyon Jays take over the bird feeders and pastures sometimes. They chase all the gentle small birds away. So we chase the Jays away (or else they will devour all the food within minutes)
This jay is trying to get to the tiny leftover suet block.
A pretty little White Crowned Sparrow
A mix of 3 sparrow species. Not sure which kind.
What appears to be a junco and a sparrow. But don't hold me to that, because I can't see their faces or details very well.
Oreo, our 5 year old kitty, enjoys bird watching, too (albeit for different reasons, I'm sure)

Avian Magic

I was able to photograph one of the birds at our feeder, in mid-flight.

Narcissus in Winter

I've been playing with my 'new' camera lately. It's not really new, per se, as it was a gift from hubby last summer, but just recently have I felt ready to try it out. Yes, I admit I'm a little bit of a Techno-phobe. I'm pretty comfie with things that work just fine and why go complicate things.
My old camera still works fine......but...not as good as my new one. hehe

I bought some flower bulbs from Jackson's Band Fall Fundraiser and decided to force the Paper White Narcissus bulbs into a winter bloom. I planted the bulbs about 2 weeks before Christmas and they have just started blooming, in time for the New Year!

It's amazing that something so lovely can come from something so ugly.
One of the stalks was damaged by our new puppy just as they emerged. The stalk never developed past that point. These flowers are very delicate.
