Floppy Bunny and Cat Rug
Two years ago, in 2003, we adopted a tuxedo kitten through Freecycle. His owners were allergic to him, so we brought him home. He had worms and was covered in fleas, but cleaned up well. And the kidlets named him "Oreo". I know, not very original, but I was voted out. Oreo is a special boy because I oftentimes feel that he carries the spirit of my deceased cat, 'Bugsy', who communicates with me in subtle ways. He also does some amazing things, like waving his paws at me, as he walks toward me. He enjoys snuggling with me at night and I taught him to "Brrrrrr" talk much like my old "Bugsy" used to do. He is an indoor cat, but has a thing for birds, so tries to sneak out. We have to keep an eye on him. We all love him very much. He does this silly thing where he lays completely flat and resembles a rug!
In 2005, we adopted a lop ear rabbit through Freecycle. We named him Schubert because my sons were really into Franz Schubert and learning all about the famous composer/musician. Unfortunately, our Easter Bunny 'cast-off' was sexed wrong and turned out to be a girl. But Schubert just fit her, so she kept her name.
