How exciting when you stumble upon something that you've been wanting to learn more about or finally discover how to actually do it?!Seems that during the Live and Learn Conference, this is what happened to us on a daily basis. We have come home bursting full of newfound knowledge!
Letterboxing is something me and my sons have been wanting to learn more about for a while now. It's similar to geocaching, but usually done without a GPS and without having to leave behind trinkets after discovering a hidden cache.
But what you do, is create a special stamp of your own, store-bought is fine, too. But handmade is preferred by more serious Letterboxers. You also keep with you a special Journal to record any Letterboxes you find. When you discover one from the clues online, you take out the stamp inside the Letterbox and stamp your journal.
And then you take your special handcarved stamp and leave your mark on the Letterbox's journal to record that you have visited their Letterbox.
It's fun to collect different handmade stamp impressions from all over the country, and even the world. And it challenges the mystery sleuth in many of us to hunt for the hidden 'treasure. We can't wait to get started!
We decided that a Native American blanket stamp would be perfect for our family's special handmade stamp, so that is what we designed and carved. The FunShop was hosted by Danielle Conger and she was very helpful and wonderful to chat with, too.
