Rock and Roll!

Jackson and Jeremiah have been wanting a rock tumbler for about a year now. And recently we finally were blessed enough to buy them one. They are so excited. And I must admit I am, too. The machine is very simple to use and the results are quite striking. Although to see the results, it takes between 2-4 weeks. But that's nothing when you stop to consider that, in nature, those polished smooth stones you see by a river bed or in the ocean took years and years to become that way, polished by water, grit, motion and time.

Jeremiah is beside himself in thinking of places to find unique rocks to tumble. He already has a collection of rocks at home, some already polished and some rough. He intends to add to his collection and he and Jackson want to make jewelry to give as gifts, with the wires, mounts and glue supplied in the rock tumbling kit.

Funny story, though. When John came home from work, he took one look at the tumbling rock machine sitting on our kitchen counter and asked why we had a clickety-clacking UFO model there! hehe
He was also really impressed and excited and looking forward to seeing what the rough stones would look like when finished.

So, now we wait anxiously while the tumbling rock machine rocks and rolls, like a pot boiling over (that's really what it sounds like!). Cool stuff!
