While lazing by the Pecos River one afternoon, we enjoyed the beautiful ballads, folk music and Mariachi coming from a campsite nearby. As we walked by their campsite, they invited us to come sit down and visit. We couldn't resist! These two talented gentlemen had traveled and performed all over the country and we felt honored to be sitting there enjoying such a wonderful concert in the beautiful setting of the Pecos Canyon.I have always felt that, in life, we are given treasured gifts. Some may not be as obvious or as tangible as what we often consider 'gifts', like a shirt, a book, video, or new earings. Sometimes it's the lovely smell of an olive tree or lavender wafting through the air as we walk by. Sometimes it may be a delicate butterfly alighting on our arm. It might even be a double rainbow when we need to feel faith in God's love.
I have received so many wonderful, unique and powerful gifts that I have been considering starting a journal just to save the memories of these gifts. But some notable ones I remember are those that have gifted me with music.
One time we had been traveling all day on our way to South Carolina from New Mexico and were tired and worn out. We were waiting in Charlotte airport for our next flight in the promenade, sitting under big trees in white picketed rocking chairs, when a man walked up to the piano and started playing and singing beautiful music for all of us harried and busy passengers.
What was truly amazing was how the environment and vibes changed from chaotic to peaceful as his lovely music floated and caressed everyone who walked by. People walked by and smiled. That man was just another passenger on his way to his next flight and he may never know the true power of his gift to everyone that heard his music, but me and the kids did walk over and thank him. He was so humble and warm hearted. Now that experience is what I consider a true glorious gift.
